This was great! I like that the video's only agenda was to inform Americans of Iranian life. This is pretty important for a lot of people like Americans to see. I always thought Rick Steeves was kinda nerdy, but this gave me a new respect for him.
I loved this lecture. An hour well spent. When he was talking about the taxi driver who said "death to traffic," I wonder if that is really a common thing to say in Iran if you feel frustrated with something. I wish that he showed video more, because with pictures, you really don't get as much visual information. This is one of the best videos that I've seen all semester, and it's quite the stereotype breaker.

ReplyDeleteI recently met a Rowan student from Iran, and like Rick Steeve said, giving the thumbs up is really the equivalent of the middle finger.
ReplyDeleteBut on a more serious note, he told me that a large number of young Iranians are growing up Agnostic. This was a surprise to me.
