Iranian Anger Rises Over Obama’s Revised Nuclear Policy

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/12/world/middleeast/12iran.html

This article just came out on the 11th, and its all about America being the bag guy basically, which most of the time..... we are. Obama has issued a new nuclear policy that makes Iran and Korea possible targets and Iran is not pleased about this. There is Talk of America disrupting world peace, by implementing this new policy, check it out and let me know what you think.

  1. I am completely for world peace, but at the same time the antagonist in this situation is Iran. They made the first moves by disregarding UN policy and continuing with their creation of nuclear weapons. Obama is trying to show that although he is a young politician the US still has the backbone it once did during the cold war, as this was generally the policy towards the Soviet Union during the Cold War with M.A.D. (mutual assured destruction) should either country use a nuclear weapon, the retaliation would wipe that country out as well, whomever was to strike first.
However, the reason for the summit Obama is holding does not just talk about Iran, but also refers to the elimination of worldwide nuclear arms, or at least a reduction to increase security because with the loose bands of militant groups across the world, much like Al Queda, the US is attempting to provide more security to every nation; the US may be Al Queda's target right now, but after us they can easily move to the next country.
I am not a fan of Obama and I do believe that Presiden Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a point in that Obama has not necessarily earned the respect of many leaders around the world yet and that he should take a step by step process before he jumps into the ring and tries to grab the bull by the horns because he will simply be hung out to dry when its all over. Just my 2 cents on our leadership. Overall, I completely support our nation and its role in the worldwide community.

  2. It is a known fact that Obama is new to international politics. And while his acusations may be hindering international peace at this current moment by iflaming members of other nationas, we must look at the bigger picture. What if Iran is secretly scheming? Is it better to not be aggressive and excersise our manners in the name of peace. Even if peace is achieved in the next year at what cost will it come and for how long will it last? Just because Iran hasn't openly violated UN policy, when there is a will there is a way and if Iran wants to get around the policies I don't doubt that they will/or already have devised a plan. However, as the American judicial system has long since proven it isn't about what you know it's what you can prove. All too often crimes are commitmented and yet criminals are let go due to lack of evidence. Intresting in many forgein nations you are gulity until proven innocent. Ironically since the UN is run in fairly western terms, Iran and other nations looking to develop nuclear weapons in secretcy benefit from the western ideologies they so deeply oppose. Moreover, the Iraninan president's comments may be built upon fact yet he too plays on emtions and employs rhetoric. His statemetns are loaded with arrogances and dig's at the western world. I doubt he would call a leader from an eastern nation a cowboy.
